Official results of GB polls announced

LAHORE: The Election Commission has announced the official results of polling in 19 constituencies of Gilgit-Baltistan for seats in the area’s newly-formed legislative assembly, a private TV channel reported on Sunday. According to the channel, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Election Commissioner Rahem Nawaz Durrani said that re-polling would be held in four polling stations of LA-17 Diamir, while results from two constituencies have yet to be announced. According to the announcement, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has won 12 seats, the PML-N and PML-Q secured two seats each and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl and Muttahida Qaumi Movement won one seat each. The PML-Q has accused the PPP of large-scale rigging in the elections. However, the party leadership has announced they will accept the result for the sake of maintaining the continuity of the democratic process in the country.
